Three Years Post Qualification Update

I have now been qualified as long as I was studying – on one hand studying seems like a lifetime ago on the other hand it feels like I still have no clue what I’m doing in the working world. Yet, a lot has happened since I finished my studies, and I write this blog after having some time off from blogging I honestly can’t believe that I’ve just had a long writing the odd blogs now than I did blogging fortnightly when I was studying! I cannot believe how busy these 3-years have been I certainly didn’t intend for it to be this busy!

For starters, three years ago I thought I was done with studying for a while and here I sit writing this having just completed my PGCert in health professional education! I’m so glad I did this, I’ve learnt so much this year, yes, it’s been a balancing act. But, as you can probably guess I focused as many of my assignments as I could around ableism in teaching and using my lived experience so I did enjoy getting into some of them!

However, doing this means not blogging as much as well as having my debut book published in the middle of this year! I don’t want to sound like a broken record here but I’ve previously spoken to the publishers about how well the book is selling and I cannot believe it! Thank you so much for your support everyone, my book is now available in Australia! I just cannot get my head around the fact that something that I wrote has an international reach, I am beyond grateful to everyone who got me here!

I’m going to be cheeky now… If you have read my book and would like to kindly leave me a review it would be greatly appreciated!!

Now, let’s stop promo and get back to the blog…

Never, did I intend to do so much within my first 3 years, I am so thankful for the opportunities that I have had! Yes, I have more opportunities waiting ahead and one starting in the middle of next year, but for the time being, I am just going to enjoy blogging a bit more, promoting the book, of course, yet apart from that just enjoy having a bit of time where I have less plates spinning. As I say I’m so thankful for all the opportunities I’ve had and so thankful to have had them but for the time being, I’m looking forward to signing off at 5 pm and staying signed off until 9 am! With the enjoyment being if I sign in again between that time I’m choosing to not because I have a deadline looming!

During my time writing even my leave was mostly filled with writing and editing the book. Don’t get me wrong it was so amazing and a privilege to be able to write a book around a pool and something I never forget. Yet, I am massively looking forward to my next holiday switching off for 10 days and just being fully present with my partner.

Not only has this year been busy for me career wise I’ve also had quite a bad health year and I am experiencing more fatigue than I ever have. This means that as well as not having as much time to write when I do have time I don’t have the energy. Balancing my deteriorating health in what has probably been the most important and busiest year so far for me has been a challenge! Right now, as I write this, I am 2-weeks away (probably be days away by the time I publish this post, woohoo) from leave which I have purposely saved knowing I would need a longer break from September. Therefore I am fatigued and I acknowledge that I’m well enough to still work yet turning the out-of-office on cannot come quick enough.

So, that’s my little round-up from what has been one of the best but most fatiguing years! I hope to see you in late September for a few more posts but for now, the out-of-office is going on for a bit and I cannot wait!

Thank you for reading,

Georgia x
