Publication Celebration Event

Join me on 04/05/2024

I’d like to formally invite you to my publication event for my upcoming book that will be published in on April 18th 2024! It would mean a lot to me if you could be there to celebrate with me!

The reception will take place from 3 pm – 6pm where there will be a there will bar (that takes card payments only).

Date: 04/05/2024
Time: 3 pm – 6 pm
Location Sheffield, the location will be sent to those who attend.

How the event will run: 

3 pm – 3:30 pm: Reception & Networking Event

3:45 – 4:30 Georgia will discuss some of the key features in her book ‘Occupational Therapy, Disability Activism and Me: Challenging Ableism in Healthcare’. Followed by a Q&A session hosted by Margaret Spencer.

4:30 – 5:15 Rachel will discuss her experience as a Lead Occupational Therapist with intersectional characteristics.

5:15 – 6:00 More networking!

Georgia Vine (@GeorgiaVineOT):

Georgia is an occupational therapist who graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in 2021. During her studies she established her award-winning blog ‘Not So Terrible Palsy’, which explored her experiences as a disabled occupational therapy student and explained how she navigated the barriers she faced during her professional training. 

Now, as Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Huddersfield Georgia strives to improve the university journey for other occupational therapy students who have experience of disability. 

Rachel Booth-Gardiner (@OT_rach):

Rachel, is a Lead Occupational Therapist, Blogger, intersectional Feminist and Disability Activist. She has 20 years experience of working within Acute, Rehabilitation & Forensic mental health settings, including 10 years of leadership roles managing occupational therapy teams within these settings.  

Rachel is the current Chair of RCOT Northern and Yorkshire Committee, in 2021 she cofounded AbleOTUK a support network of occupational therapy staff and students with lived experiences of disabilities and/or long term health conditions.  In 2023 she received a merit award from the royal college of occupational therapy for her services to the profession.

  • Allied Healthcare Professionals (again particularly those working with children or in academia)
  • Students
  • Young people with disabilities and families
  • All those working in schools with disabled children

What will I get if I intend?

As well as finding out more information about Georgia’s book you will also get to know other experiences from occupational therapists such as Rachel. At the end of the event you will receive a CPD certificate for your portfolio and a reflective log which can be used to accompany the certificate.
